About Me

Me Watching a Beautiful Florida Sunset

Hello everyone! Thanks for taking some time out to drop by. My name is Donna and I started this blog because I have always believed that words can move people. I felt that there was a need to speak about issues that concern all of us or at least should. I’m not a preachy type of person, but I do believe in speaking up for the powerless. I am an animal advocate, and believe that we should be good stewards of our planet. I don’t believe that we can truly evolve as a society unless we have true empathy for all living things. So, as you can guess, I will definitely be writing on behalf of animals. Also, it’s important to mention the importance of taking time out to connect with ourselves. Specifically, we live in such a fast paced society that we seem to forget to take time for ourselves! What better way to evolve as a society, but to take time out from our busy schedule to reconnect with our inner souls! So, this blog has absolutely nothing to do with the latest Facebook or Twitter jargon. It takes time to go far deeper. It questions the unquestionable and focuses on making our planet a better place for all of us. So why not come along for the ride? It promises to challenge the mind, deepen the soul and broaden our understanding for purpose. Why not read this blog under a beautiful tree that is full of life, a beach where the dolphins are swimming or a mountaintop that overlooks a valley? It really doesn’t matter where you are as long as your mind can “envision” it then you are in your element!

Hello Donna! You have started a great blog with thoughts on life’s true meaning. Keep up the great work, and I’m along for the ride!!!

    • Glad that you are “along for the ride!!” I hope to raise awareness to issues that often get overlooked. I like to write about issues that challenge people to think beyond themselves. And of course, “compassion” is central to my blog. Thanks for making a comment on my “About!”

  4. Donna, it is nice to meet you too! I also love animals and it always saddens me to see them hurt and neglected. Thank you for being an advocate and raising animal awareness through your blog. I will visit often! 🙂

  5. Donna, Thank you for the comforting comments. There are days that I thought I already found my new home but lately, a yearning for my roots has never been so strong, sometimes even frustratingly painful. I guess life is a constant struggle of sorts. I’m just fortunate to have a loving family to back me up, a wonderful son, a supportive wife, otherwise I’ll just be one of those I see on t.v. of living a robotic, empty life. And yes, I have some great people in the blog world that total inspires me to go and make everyday better than yesterday. God bless you and your family. wishing you all the best .

    • Thanks for your kind words. I so agree with you that having a supportive family makes it all worthwhile. It’s the icing on the cake! After all, what are we here for? Just to work our life away with nothing to show for it? I guess it really doesn’t matter where we are as long as we are connected with each other in meaningful ways. Who knows what life will bring in the long run? That’s why each moment is truly precious. By the way, thanks for the blessing. The same for you and your family.

We have a lot common, Donna. Like you, I am also particular with connecting to my inner self by communing or bonding with nature or simply taking time out by myself to movies or to any place where I can spend time for solitude. I am most effective that way .I also like animals and I believe that the true meaning of happiness is to be on good terms with the universe. I try to do that by respecting God’s creations from mountains to vermin.

I am a person who wear many hats so I always demand taking time out by myself to recharge or reconnect to myself.

Let’s push on sharing our words! We will never know whom we could move … like you said 🙂

    • So true Sony! We do have much in common. I so agree with you on respecting God’s creations. This is such a beautiful world that we live in, so why not cherish all of it? Anyway, I really appreciate your comment. It is very inspirational. 🙂

  7. Sony Fugaban says:

And the picture explains why you liked my post, Eyeballing Mr. Sunset … I definitely agree with your comment there.

  8. Thank you for the comment. It was nice to hear from you again. The post on the Turtle race was a joy to read but at the same time it saddens me that their numbers keeps on dwindling. Everyone should pitch in to help this gentle and beautiful creatures. Best wishes to you and you family.

    • Thanks again for your comment! It’s wonderful to know that people like yourself truly care about our environment. I’m glad that you enjoyed the post on the Tour de Turtles. I hope that it raises awareness, and that we can make a difference. Don’t forget to check out the link to their website. It’s great family fun (and educational). Anyway, I hope that you and your family have a wonderful week! Thanks for dropping by my “About.” 🙂

  9. I thought I’d swing by to thank you for leaving such a kind comment on my site, Donna. It’s a pleasure to meet you (so to speak), and I look forward to your future posts as well. I’ve really enjoyed reading your recent posts (btw, that’s a photogenic bike! I like how you posed it in various locations, you make your point well!).

    • Thank you for your kind words! It’s really nice to know that you are enjoying my blog. I think that your blog is awesome! As for my bike, it really is a lot of fun to ride. By the way, I took those pictures of my bike on the beach with a bright green camera that I bought for $20.00! I bought a cheap camera for beach photos because of the sand and salt air. Also, I took my “gravatar photo” with that same camera. It’s not bad for internet use. I’m not at all a professional photographer like you, but I enjoy taking pictures every so often. However, when I want to experience the ultimate in nature photos, I will drop by your blog. Anyway, thanks for subscribing to my blog. I know that I am very much looking forward to your posts. Nice to meet you via blogging. 🙂

  10. Thank you for the last comment. It was wonderful. Best wishes to you and your family.
P.S. The duck pictures especially the ducklings reminded me of my childhood, my dad used to raise them and would swim freely in a huge pond. Thanks.

    • You’re very welcome! It’s always a delight to drop by your blog. Also, thanks for your comment on my post. I’m glad that the picture of the ducks brought back some fond memories for you. I had no idea that your dad raised ducks. That must have been one beautiful sight to see as a kid. I imagine that seeing those ducks swimming in the pond must have brought you so much joy. Anyway, thanks again for dropping by my “About.” Best wishes to you and your family.

I stumbled upon this cute blog and I thought it’d be nice to introduce you to him because of your genuine love to animals.

Here’s the link of rumpydog’s blog which I think may interest you: http://rumpydog.wordpress.com/.
He’s got tons of “animal” poems on his blog.

  12. Are you on facebook?
I was wondering how you got the buttons for the animal rescue site?
I want to put that on my page as well 🙂

  13. wordsfallfrommyeyes says:

This is a very wonderful about you. It’s honest, and shows into you. And I love that you’re into animal rights. Can you believe so many people don’t think of them as actually living feeling beings? Recent news was a video was pulled off Youtube because it was a video of a man filming his pet python wrapping itself around a KITTEN, it slowly dying, it being devoured. It was so sick. I love your name WordsWithPurpose. Thank you for subscribing, Donna. It is lovely to meet you. Just my type of person: soulful 🙂

    • It is sad that there are people in the world who lack empathy for animals. I can’t imagine why anyone would not understand that animals have feelings just like we humans do. They feel pain just like we do. Nonetheless, that story you shared about the kitten being devoured is so sad and very sick! Yet, it just goes to show how we need to get involved in whatever way that we can to help these animals. Also, I think that there needs to be harsher penalties for people that harm animals. Sadly, that kitten needlessly suffered. That being said, I know that there are still a lot of good people in the world that truly care about animals. I find hope in that. By the way, I love soulful people too. That is why I subscribed to your blog! It is my pleasure to meet you too. Thanks for your kind words. 🙂

WWP, Happy New Year! All the best in 2012! 🙂

    • Thanks very much Arvee! Happy New Year to you too! I can’t believe just how fast this year has gone by. In the blink of an eye, we will be saying goodbye to 2012. Ha! Ha! Anyway, I wish you much happiness throughout the New Year. 🙂

It is nice knowing you. I found my way to this blog clicking your comment on Jake’s post. Affection towards animals in me goes long back. My first major was zoology. I was part of WWF local chapter and actively participated in few programs back during the college days. Our family is vegetarian by choice. Wife practices our faith religiously and so not even eggs make their way to our pantry. Living in US, I have started making an occasional exception on poultry, but it’s limited to outside of the house only. Not only are your words with purpose but also the actions that it generates serves a larger purpose. My words and actions will always be supportive of your words.

    • Thank you so much for your very kind words Yatin. I am equally glad to meet you via blogging. Thanks for caring about animals, and for being such a good steward of our precious planet. I think it’s great that you and your family are vegetarian. I recently became vegan after being vegetarian for a while. My hubby is vegetarian. I must say that we both love it! Anyway, I’m so glad that you dropped by my “About.” I enjoyed my visit to your blog. I’ll be back for another visit soon. You have a great sense of humor. All the best in 2012. 🙂

    • Wow! I appreciate you sending the link Connie. And thanks so much for your kind words. “Island Traveler” is a very thoughtful and kind person who inspires so many people. I’m fortunate to know “IT” via WordPress. Nonetheless, I wish you and your family endless blessings. Thanks for making a difference Connie! 🙂

  18. Sony Fugaban says:

Yey, you were also nominated! I was supposed to pick you for the same.

    • Congratulations Sony! You deserve this award (and a million more)! And thanks for thinking of my blog too. I’m always very honored by your generous spirit. 🙂

      • Sony Fugaban says:

You’re actually the first that crossed my mind. Unfortunately, I read the rules on Connie’s and I learned that it’ll be a violation if a blogger receives the award twice. That explains why I nominated another blogger.

I’d like you to know that your words definitely deserve a HUG and the said award. 🙂

      • I’m just so honored and appreciative that you thought of my blog Sony! Thanks so much for your generosity. Your words always inspire me. And a million HUGS to you! Best wishes to you and your family. 🙂

  19. Thank you for the warm and kind thoughts. They always bring a sweet sunshine to my day. Beautiful words that inspires me every time. Have a blessed day my friend.

  20. I finally made a “featured on” page. I hope your banner is ok. If you have a logo, please email it to me and I can change it.

    • I think that’s a wonderful idea Isobelle to have a “featured on” page. And it looks great! Thanks for putting my banner up. I was really surprised by it! As for a logo, I don’t have one. So, I guess you could say that my banner is my “official logo.” 🙂

By the way, I was happy as a bee to have been lucky enough to capture that honeybee on that wildflower. Ha! Ha! I just couldn’t help myself. Just in case you’re curious, the wildflower is called Coreopsis. It’s Florida’s official wildflower. 🙂

  21. Silly me! I seem to have responded to some comments on my blog without replying directly to the comment. I’m posting my replies again!

    • Ha! Ha! That’s too funny. I think you have been doing a great job on responding to my comments. It’s always a pleasure to drop by your blog. I’ll be catching up with your latest posts soon. Thanks so much for dropping by again. I hope you have a great week! 🙂

  22. Good to see that you care about things that have a meaning and are significant to add to the beauty of our lives. Go on!

    • Thanks so much for your very kind comment Nikita! It’s great to see that people are still reading my blog! I haven’t written a blog post in a while, so it’s really great to know that people are still dropping by. That being said, I’m looking forward to catching up with everyone. I miss my blogging buddies!!! Nonetheless, I’m also looking forward to checking out your blog soon. Very interesting profile! Beautifully written. 🙂

    • Wow Jake! How kind of you to provide a home for your 6 dogs and 8 cats! I knew you had pets, but didn’t know you had that many. I bet they are very happy pets, and are lucky to be part of your family. There are so many homeless cats and dogs that need loving homes. So, thanks for being a pet parent. Isn’t it great? 🙂

Hope you had a nice holiday Jake. Thanks for dropping by again my friend! 🙂
